Child Protection Policy

NSPCC: The issue of the abuse within Society, Sport and Football is a concern for all.

The general policy for football is to ensure that the necessary steps are taken to protect those children who participate in football at all levels and that football takes place in an environment that is safe and enjoyable.

The key principles that underpin this policy are:

·         Appointment of a responsible person who is Police checked to act as Club Welfare Officer.

·         The child’s welfare is paramount.

·         All children have a right to be protected from abuse regardless of their age, gender, culture, language, racial origin, religious belief or sexual identity.

·         All suspicions and allegations of abuse will be taken seriously and responded to swiftly and appropriately.

Astro Blues has the authority through its rules to prohibit the involvement of adults in football on the basis of conviction, caution, or concern expressed by the police or social services.

Every child or young person defined, as any person under the age of 18, who plays or participates in football should be able to take part in an enjoyable and safe environment and be protected from abuse. This is the responsibility of every adult involved in football.

This club recognises its responsibilities to safeguard the welfare of all children and young people by protecting them from physical or emotional harm and from neglect or bullying.  It is determined to meet its obligations by ensuring that the club provides the highest standards of care at all times.

Regulations

Any act, statement, conduct or other matter, which harms a child or children, or poses or may pose a risk of harm to a child or children, shall constitute behaviour, which is improper and brings the game into disrepute.

In these Regulations the expression “Offence” shall mean any one or more of the offences contained in Schedule 1 to the Children and Young Persons Act 1933 or any other criminal offence which reasonably causes the club to believe that the person accused of the offence poses or may pose a risk of harm to child or children.
